My first great a-ha moment with coworking came in 2015.
I was in Berkeley covering GCUC for a publication.
Tony Bacigalupo, who I didn’t know at the time but who has become a dear friend, opened GCUC by asking the audience who thought coworking was about dividing up commercial real estate for a profit.
No hands went up.
He then asked who thought coworking was about something more.
Every hand in the room went up.
It was a life-changing moment. I felt that “something more” and was amazed to see how many others did, as well.
This week I chatted with Tony about that moment, about his work with New Work Cities helping hundreds of space operators create community-focused coworking spaces, and how we, as a movement, are sitting on a massive amount of untapped potential.
He also offered a challenge to the global community, at large, to create positive impact around the world.
