Twitter chats are a great way to connect with like-minded people, pick up valuable insights and tips, and grow your Twitter following.
Last year I started participating regularly in chats and my knowledge base and follower count increased immediately. You can pack loads of information into a one-hour chat when there are dozens of people participating.
Twitter chats exist for just about any topic you can imagine. Here are 11 of my favorites for writers, bloggers and content creators.
Sundays, 8 p.m. Central
#BlogChat is one of the most popular and long-running Twitter chats, delving into a different blog topic every week. The community is friendly, helpful and engaged and topics cover everything you need for pro blogging, from setup and headlines, to SEO, promotion, monetization, and more. Recommended for experienced bloggers and newbies, alike.
Mondays, 2 p.m. Central
Host: @SmarterShft / @LUCYrk78
#ContentChat covers social media marketing, blogging, technology, and content strategy. The community is made up of bloggers, marketing and content strategy pros, and other engaged professionals from around the world. Recent chats covered growing your social media presence organically, enlisting others in content creation, general writing and blogging tips, and starting a podcast.
Mondays, 9 p.m. Central
Hosts: @BlogElevated, @lisa_stauber, @clumsycrafter
#BlogElevated is laser focused on your blog: monetizing it, promoting it, increasing traffic to it, growing your email list with it, etc. The #BlogElevated team, which also runs the Blog Elevated Conference provides lots of know-how, strategies, clever ideas, experience, and best practices. Knowledgeable regulars that show up week after week, there’s an active Facebook group, and it all has a nice community vibe.
Tuesdays, 11 a.m. Central
The Content Marketing Institute (CMI) is one of the most valuable resources for content marketers and bloggers. Comprising articles, ebooks, webinars, a blog, a podcast, an annual event and more, it is a goldmine of pro-quality resources and tips. CMI’s Twitter chat is yet another awesome resource for smart content creators. It brings hard-hitting knowledge, get-it-done guidance, and a mind-blowing stream of guests. Past hosts include @sujanpatel, @randfish, @jaybaer, @kikolani and dozens of other content experts.
Tuesdays, 8 p.m. Central
Host: @PamMktgNut of Marketing Nutz (@mktgnutz)
This is my favorite Twitter chat. Yes, I said it. The #GetRealChat community is incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and fun. The chat is focused on having real talk about social business, technology, entrepreneurship, content marketing and more, but the human factor in this one is high. During the last chat, a side conversation about using your work for social good emerged that was truly moving. Recommended for smart bloggers who don’t shy away from the term “marketing” and who understand that content strategy is a cross-platform, all-inclusive approach—not just an occasional blog post.
Every other Wednesday, 8 p.m. Central
Hosted by Melyssa Griffin of the Nectar Collective, who has single-handedly helped countless online entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses, #NectarChat is packed with great information. Melyssa’s questions elicit great responses from chat participants, and then she drops great bits of knowledge and actionable tips that make you wonder, Why didn’t I think of that?! This chat is geared more toward entrepreneurs than strictly bloggers, but, as content marketers know, blogging is an important part of any business strategy these days. Recommended for new bloggers and pros alike, #NectarChat will push you toward entrepreneurial success with tough love, friendly banter, and a successful insider’s perspective.
Thursdays, 12 p.m. Central
Led by HubSpot, one of the great resources in the content creation and content marketing world #InboundHour covers all things inbound marketing. With a huge, knowledgeable and diverse community, #InboundHour is geared for content professionals, but is accessible and welcoming to new content creators and bloggers looking to streamline their system and get the most out of their efforts. Highly recommended. And, if you haven’t checked out HubSpot’s blog, get over there right now. It is bursting with valuable tips, resources and insights.
Thursdays, 12 p.m. Central
The #TwitterSmarter chat does a deep dive into all things Twitter. Hosted by Madalyn Sklar, who hosts the Twitter Smarter podcast, teaches the Twitter Smarter Master Class, and is generally a rockstar in the Twitter world, #TwitterSmarter covers everything you could want to know about Twitter, and then some. Sklar is well-versed in social media, community-building, content creation, and a bunch of other marketing-related fields, and her friendly, approachable demeanor has made her a favorite among Twitter chat enthusiasts.
Thursdays, 3 p.m. Central
Hosted by CoSchedule, a social media editorial calendar, #CoChat brings together bloggers and content marketers to discuss creating better content, growing your audience, promoting your posts with social media, mastering content marketing, and much more. Blending content resources and insights with productivity tips and tools, #CoChat is a friendly chat that always proves valuable. Recommended for content marketers, social media professionals, and productivity enthusiasts.
Thursdays, 8 p.m. Central
#ViralChat is a Twitter chat that covers content marketing, social media, video, content strategy, future predictions and more. The questions are thought-provoking and elicit great responses from the friendly community. Guest hosts add to the value and the variety of topics covered ensures that there’s always plenty of ground to cover. Recommended for content creators, social media professionals, and bloggers building their platform.
Thursdays, 9 p.m. Central
#MediaChat takes place right after #ViralChat and, because they have overlapping communities, many people go directly from #ViralChat to #MediaChat. This chat is fun and fast moving as it covers a variety of media-related topics—in particular, social media apps, best practices, and how to use the various platforms to grow and connect with your audience. Guest hosts provide smart insights and perspectives. Recommended for those interested in leveling up their content game with social media, as well as those who appreciate funny, well-placed gifs and a light-hearted, community approach to social media.
